FAQs

  • Helmets are required for all riders. Full-face helmets are optional.
  • All bikes are required to have Front Suspension, Disc Brakes, and Ability to Lower Saddle.
  • Fat bikes with tires over 3.8″ cannot be used with our lift carriers.

A full suspension bike is highly recommended. Protection pads and body armor are strongly encourages. Everyone must sign a release form to ride the park. Riders under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign their release.

If you are new to Downhill Mountain Biking, we strongly recommend taking a lesson. Our Beginner Lesson will teach you riding form, how to load and unload from the chairlift, and how to ride down our beginner trail, Shakedown Street.

Blue Mountain Bike Park trails are rated similarly to our ski trails. Green trails are the easiest, blue trails are more difficult & black trails are most difficult. Please keep in mind that this rating system compares the difficulty of our trails in relation with each other. This is not a comparison of our trails to trails at other mountains or trail systems. We do not currently offer any trails that would be comparable to a bike path.

Green trails do contain rocky and rooted sections, dirt berms and rollers, as well as steep grades and varied terrain. These trails do make their way down a mountain side and some mountain bike skill is required to ride them comfortably. A full suspension mountain bike is recommended for these trails.

Blue trails contain features of increasing difficulty including small drops, jumps, larger berms and steeper trails. An all mountain full suspension mountain bike or downhill bike is recommended for these trails. Some body armor protection is also recommended on our blue trails.

Black trails are the expert downhill trails. These trails are steep, rocky, loose, and contain larger jumps and drop offs. A 6” – 9” travel downhill bike is highly recommended on the black trails. A full face helmet and full body armor are also highly recommended for guests riding this terrain.

Yes. The Bike Park at Blue Mountain Resort has a rental shop stocked with top-of-the-line gear. Our shop rents bikes, shoes, and protective gear. Rentals must be purchased in advance to ensure availability.

Blue Mountain Bike Park typically operates regardless of weather.  However, there are times when we are forced to close for the safety of our guests, employees, and lifts due to the weather.  If the forecast is such that we will not open for the day, an announcement will be made by 7:30am that day on our website and social media.

Lightning – If the park is open and lightning is in the area, operations will be suspended until the area is clear.  If more storms are forecast or it is near the end of the day, the park may close for the day.

Blue Mountain Bike Park does not offer refunds or rain checks due to bad weather.  We make every effort to stick to our operating schedule, but cannot control the weather.

Please review the NSAA’s Mountain Bike Responsibility Code prior to visiting Blue Mountain Bike Park. Have fun, and stay safe!
